How to add an ePub to a Kobo eReader/Tablet

Kobo offers eReaders and tablets. Below are instructions on how to upload ePubs for Kobo eReaders from Windows and Mac-based computers, as well as how to upload on Kobo tablets.

How to add an ePub file to Kobo eReaders for Windows and Mac.

Add an ePUB to Kobo eReader using a Windows computer

  1. Connect your eReader to your computer using the USB cable. Your eReader will prompt you to either keep reading or manage your library. You can use your computer or the Desktop Application to add books and manage your eReader.
  2. Using the Navigation Pad, select “Manage Library.” Windows should detect that you connected a new device.
  3. When prompted for an action, select “Open folder to view files.” A window should open, showing the contents of your eReader.
  4. In another Explorer window, navigate to where you stored the eBooks you want to move to your eReader.
  5. Drag and drop your eBooks into the eReader window. You can now disconnect your eReader and read your new books.

Add an ePUB to Kobo eReader using a Mac computer

  1. Connect your eReader to your computer using the USB cable. Your eReader will prompt you to either keep reading or manage your library. You can use your computer or the Desktop Application to add books and manage your eReader.
  2. Using the Navigation Pad, select “Manage Library.”
  3. On your computer, open your Finder application.
  4. Select KOBO eReader from your list of devices. Finder should display the contents of your eReader.
  5. In another Finder window, navigate to where you stored the eBooks you want to transfer to your eReader.
  6. Drag and drop your eBooks into the eReader window. You can now disconnect your eReader and read your new books.Turn on your eReader and find your new ebooks. They will be in the “ebooks” area if the files were ePUBs, or in the “documents” area if they were PDFs.

How to add an ePub file to Kobo Tablets for Windows and Mac.
You can only import DRM-free EPUBs to your Kobo Arc 7, Kobo Arc 7HD, or Kobo Arc 10HD. When you import EPUBs to your Kobo tablet, they’re only available to that specific tablet.

  1. Tap the Home icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Swipe from right to left until you see your collections.
  3. Tap Books. All the books in your Library are listed.
  4. Tap the Actions icon at the top of the screen.
  5. Tap.
  6. Tap Import Content.
  7. Select the checkbox beside the book you want to import.
  8. Tap Import Selected. A dialog box will appear.
  9. Choose what you want to do with the original:
  10. Tap “No” to keep a copy of the book in your Memory card, and import the file.
  11. Tap “Yes” to delete the copy of the book in your Memory card, and import the file.
